My work involves informal compositions of planned, geometrically assigned, ofetn asymmetrical deconstrunctions/reconstructions. I interpret and transpose notions concerning suspension, fragmention, silence and asymmetry, as happens in jazz. I work over the painted surface in a quasi post-production mode, scraping, cutting, scratching and overlapping, juxtapposing different materials, textures and finishes. Shiny gives way to opaque on surfaces where I might insert metal threads, acetate, tissue paper and tracing paper, adding depth with cardboard and finnboard. I choose areas to be solid or transparent. I use neutral tones in counterpoint to monochromatic, occasionally brightly-coloured sections.
I keep a subtle balance between additions and subtractions, and explore space theatrically, moving 3D compositions akin to the teatrino scientifico where all the elements come together in a spatial relationship.
